We presented PRINIA project to the Shaping the Future workshop at the CHI 2024 conference, a prestigious event in the field of human-computer interaction.
Participating in the workshop was an enriching experience that advanced our understanding of the opportunities and challenges associated with XR technologies. Engaging with diverse stakeholders, including HCI researchers, policy experts, and industry specialists across the globe (Germany, Greece, New Zealand, Switzerland, the United Kingdom, the United States of America, and more), gave us a perspective on the critical issues facing XR development.
Our discussions focused on the intersection of privacy and technology, which is directly relevant to the PRINIA project. We explored the opportunities and challenges of implementing privacy-preserving facial recognition in XR, delving into the complexities of dynamic consent mechanisms and developing robust privacy-preserving models. The collaborative environment and the structured group discussions allowed us to refine our approaches and align our solutions with emerging policy recommendations.
The Shaping the Future workshop enhanced our project outcomes by incorporating diverse viewpoints and helped us contribute to the collective effort of developing governance frameworks for XR technologies.
