PRINIA project presented at IEEE ICCA 2024

At the IEEE International Conference on Computer & Applications (ICCA) 2024, held from December 17 to 19, 2024, at The British University in Egypt (BUE), we had the opportunity to present our paper titled “PRINIA: Privacy-Preserving Facial Recognition Framework for Extended Reality Environments.” This event provided a remarkable platform for us to engage with leading researchers, practitioners, and technologists in the field, exchanging insights and discussing the latest advancements in privacy and security within Extended Reality (XR) applications.

ICCA 2024 was a fantastic venue for presenting cutting-edge research, and we were thrilled to showcase our work amidst a dynamic and diverse group of attendees. As the demand for XR technologies continues to grow, the integration of privacy-enhancing solutions is becoming more crucial. Our paper, which emphasizes the innovative aspects of our privacy-preserving facial recognition framework, sparked insightful discussions and garnered interest from experts in the field.

The conference was an excellent opportunity to engage with peers who are equally passionate about pushing the boundaries of XR while ensuring user privacy and data protection. We exchanged ideas on how to address the evolving challenges posed by the growing use of facial recognition in immersive environments.

One of the key takeaways from our participation in ICCA 2024 was the incredible value of networking and collaboration. Engaging with fellow researchers and practitioners allowed us to explore potential collaborations and gain feedback on our work, which will help us refine our approach and expand our framework’s capabilities. The opportunity to connect with others in the XR and privacy research community was invaluable, as it opened up new avenues for further development and research.

Through these discussions, we were able to learn about emerging trends, share experiences, and contribute to the collective understanding of privacy concerns within XR environments. The conference highlighted the importance of continued innovation in this space and how collaboration across disciplines will be key to advancing privacy-preserving technologies for XR.

Attending ICCA 2024 reinforced the importance of balancing technological advancements with robust privacy measures. As XR systems continue to evolve and become more integrated into industries like healthcare, education, and entertainment, the need for secure, privacy-respecting technologies will only grow. The paper presentation allowed us to engage in thought-provoking conversations about these issues, and we were encouraged by the growing consensus on the importance of protecting user data in XR systems.

Additionally, the conference provided a unique space to reflect on the role of privacy in XR’s future. Engaging with a community of experts who share a similar commitment to ethical technology development allowed us to align our vision for the future of XR privacy with the broader trends in the research community.

Our participation in IEEE ICCA 2024 was an exciting and productive experience that not only allowed us to present our work but also to connect with a vibrant and forward-thinking community of XR researchers and practitioners. The conference provided a timely opportunity to reflect on the growing importance of privacy in XR environments and the need for collaborative efforts to address the challenges ahead.

We look forward to continuing these conversations and exploring new opportunities for innovation and cooperation in the development of privacy-preserving technologies for XR. The discussions at ICCA 2024 have energized us as we continue our work to ensure that the future of XR is secure, ethical, and privacy-respecting.
